Casey Bayer – Boston-based, New England Photographer
"Buy the ticket, take the ride." -Hunter S. Thompson
Since getting my first camera, a Nikon FM10, and developing a love for the smell of darkroom chemicals and the process of hands-on image creation, photography has been an important part of my life.
I was trained in Boston University's photojournalism program, and first worked as a photo editor at The Christian Science Monitor. As my career in communications took different turns, photography came along for the ride as I shot for client events and produced videos while at a public relations agency, and filled in for various portraits, events, and on-the-fly moments in higher education.
I believe it's my background in journalism that grounds my approach to photography—the desire to seamlessly and accurately document moments between people, capture memories, and witness the many little wonders that can occur all around us. I'd be honored to be part of yours.
Casey Gizmo Photos: What's the 'Gizmo,' you ask?
See if you can picture this: a 2004 study abroad program in Costa Rica. A short, blonde, pigtailed young woman frolicking over-excitedly about the rainforest, trying to soak in all the new landscapes and culture as fast and as much as she could, with an infectious giggle and propensity to squeal with delight. Maybe the little guy from Gremlins, Gizmo, came to mind?
The nickname, Gizmo, was born on that trip, stuck throughout college, and came to embody an exuberant enthusiasm for life and new experiences—qualities and how I approach working with you and the photos we make together.
